About this blog
This blog is an homage to the long lost art of leftovers. (Because, let’s face it, no one likes to feel like they’re eating leftovers.) My mom excelled at putting her leftovers to good use. So did my grandmother. Although, when it comes right down to it, my dad is the true leftovers wizard in the family. I love cooking with leftovers because it saves me time, it saves me money and when I cook using what I have on hand it saves me yet another trip to the supermarket!!!!
Plus, finding new and different ways to use up my leftovers allows me to flex my creative muscles in the kitchen. (Which is kinda nice after a long day chasing news at the Los Angeles Times, where I work as a writer and editor.)
I hope to swap leftover ideas and recipes with like-minded leftover lovers. But you’ll notice I’m not much for the classic recipe. That’s not the way I cook — and that’s not the way my parents taught me to cook, either. We throw in a little of this, a little of that, and somehow it all works out.
